Jean Scott
Jean was born in England, trained as a high school teacher and came to Australia in 1972. After spending her working life in the food industry in product development, as a food stylist, food writer and TAFE teacher she decided to take up painting thinking it would be a good hobby, but very soon decided to study further, training in Fine Arts and subsequently at art workshops at Willoughby and the National Art School. Painting has become her passion and she loves exploring new avenues and being involved in the local art scene.
Jean loves the process of painting using lively, gestural marks and the bigger the brush the better. Her work varies depending on the medium, but whether painting in oils or acrylics the works tend to go in and out of abstraction and relate to the surrounding landscape. An abstract expressionist approach of working captures a sense of emotion.
Jean lives and has a studio in Killcare, NSW The beautiful surrounding seascapes and landscapes are currently her source of inspiration.
